An introduction to Hotel Pical

The Pical Hotel has a miles-from-anywhere feel that's hard to beat and its pine forest setting is only the beginning. A short stroll through the gardens brings you to a secluded rocky beach complete with its own bathing platform. And everywhere from the lobby to the sun terrace comes with views of Peskera Bay. But despite its away-from-it-all appearance, it's just a 20-minute walk from the old town of Porec and the resort's Noddy-style shuttle train stops right outside the hotel, so getting there's a doddle.

If unwinding is top of your agenda, the pool area is perfect. The saltwater stretch of turquoise is set into a spacious terrace, so finding a quiet spot is never a problem. Plus there's always more than enough sunbeds and parasols to go around. There's lots of lawn space, too, with tall trees providing plenty of shade. And you'll also find a bar out here, which offers a tempting menu of drinks and snacks.

If you're looking for something more active there are lots of things for you to do. For starters, there's a full menu of watersports down on the beach. There are aerobics classes and swimming lessons every morning, as well as bike hire. Plus there's a sports centre 200 metres from the hotel with 16 tennis courts to choose from.

Inside, the Pical Hotel is a cool oasis with crisp white walls, modern art-style murals and ultra-stylish low-level seating. Over in the restaurant, meanwhile, things turn to the east with an Oriental red and black colour scheme – a stylish setting for the Mediterranean buffet. Last but not least, the spacious bedrooms come with terracotta-coloured soft furnishings, satellite TVs and air-conditioning.

Stayed at hotel pical last may, hotel was excellent, people could not do enough for you, food could not fault, freshly cooked morning and night, location very close, only 15mins walk, entertainment never stayed in hotel for it, overall croatia coming... more on this review
